I'm doing a little R&R on the SE trans I'm putting into my 83 project car. Today I replaced the front cover and seal and the rear seal, and then started working on the shifter. Before I took it apart it was really loose, leading me to think the springs are broken. I took the shifter, bushings, and that little plate on the side off, and sure enough while digging around in there I pull out the broken piece of the spring. Now is there one or two seperate springs? One for the left to neutral and one for neutral to right? Is there someone that sells these or will I just have to find one from someone on the forum?
