Shaking motor and shifter

I need some help with this problem. When the car is idling, like in my driveway or at a stoplight, the motor kinda shakes or jerks a little. It is not a constant thing, but it just does it every few seconds. I was hoping somebody had this same problem and could tell me how to fix it. I know that my timing is right, but don't have any ideas on what to check next. If somebody could please help me with some suggestions, that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

I just replaced them about 2 or 3 thousand miles ago, but I will check them. Thanks for the quick reply. Keep them coming.

Yeah, I have this same problem. There is even a rattling from under the hood (very mild). The way I plan to solve this is to actually look at the engine brackets and see if they are loose. Sometimes even a shot of oil will do the trick. I am NO EXPERT though. If you find anything out, e-mail me please. Thanks

There is an air hose, probably 5/8" od along the passenger side firewall that is almost above the exhaust. It is common for the exhaust heat to cause this hose to become brittle and split. I wish I could remember what it connected to but I don't have that car anymore. On mine the hose had a hole in it and caused a bad idle like you describe.

Could be other things but this worked for me.

Does your RPMs drop when it does this rough idle?... i think it has something to do with the ACV... i took mine off and didn't get it sealed good enough and had the exact same problem... checking the motor and tranny mounts or replacing them couldn't hurt either.

do you have to replace the mounts or can you just replace the rubber around them?
