Series 3 - gone electric

What have I been doing since my last log in??? Well my baby - my 1985 Series 3 is now electric. Converted over 18 months ago - I have not purchased petrol since then. It has a 135 HP electric motor, no fuel, oil or radiator or exhaust to worry about. Cruises at 100 kph and does over 120 kilometers between charges, has slightly heaver springs put in the back and has batteries under the hood and in a carry box where the spare tyre and fuel tank used to be. It is a dream to drive and hugs to raod beautifully with the extra weight in the back. It has no clutch but I ketp the manual greabox, usually taking off in second (if I am not in a hurry) and slipping into third at 5000 rpm (or 80 kph). Never use 4th gear. It is still my Series 3, yellow (banana car - as my wife calls it) RX7.

What kind of batteries did you use? I have thought about this but the price of Lithium Ion batteries is just too much for me right now. What motor and controller did you use?

I converted one of my fb's to electric as well. They make a great base for an electric conversion, don't they?
