My seats have side mount and bottom mount brackets. On the pass seat, I used the side mounts for the outboard side and the floor mounts for the inboard. Once I had the side mount bracket positioned and bolted to the floor, I was able to pull back the seat foam, stick a wire all the way through the bottom mount holes and mark where they touched the floor. Once I did this, I went to work with a ball peen hammer to create local flats (about 2" diameter) to mount the seat to. On one of them, I drilled an access hole through the under-car heatshield for ease of installation.
Lastly, I installed studs in the inboard seat bottom holes (8 X 1.25mm, avail at my local hardware store), stacked washers on them to get the height/inclination to match up with the outboard side. I used 1/4" fender washers, drilled with clearance holes so they fit snug, except for the last one on each stud, which I threaded to retain the stack of washers and make installation/removal easier.
And yes, it was a pain in the ***.
