I got a big problem. I got seat covers from leatherseats.com. They are absolutely gorgeous. But the pattern is wrong! Ack! I have the low back bucket on the 83. I have had 2 83's with these seats, one leather and one cloth. They have the side bolsters and headrest. Is there another low back design? I was clear with them on the low back vs high back but wonder if there is another style out there. Any help appreciated as these are very very nice covers and I really want this to work out.

 

Mine are lowbacks - could be custom but looks OE to me - they don't have headrests, they are prolly the seats your covers are for. I've been thinking about switching to seats that would provide a little whiplash protection, but these look good and really make the inside of the car look spacious.

79-83 - High Back in "fabric" or "vinyl"
79-85 - Low Back With Head Rest in "vinyl"
80-85 - Low Back With Head Rest in "fabric"

I personally have 4 RX-7's (85 -SE, 85 GSL, 84 GS, 83 GSL), and all of them have low backs with the head rests in leather, except my 83 GSL, which has low backs with head rests in cloth.

I will try to post some pics. They are very good quality, and not cheap, but less than the upholstery shops.

 

I have been digging around and I think there was a stock vinyl seat that had a broader, no bolster base. Can anyone confirm?
