Seat Dissasembly

Well, I am trying to get my new leather seat uholstery on and have the seat back covers off the old seats. Now, I need to seperate the back from the seat bottom. Anyone done this? There are hex head bolts on the frame but the spring hardware is in the way. Do I have to remove that evil looking spring?

Yes, you have to remove that spring. Just be careful when you do that you don't lose it. I lost mine and had to find an old seat at a junk yard just for the spring! Good Luck!

Actually........

you don't have to remove the spring. You simply have to remove the hinge assembly the spring is mounted into. You'll just have to adjust the angle of the hinge assembly as needed to access all 4 allen bolts.Big ol Allen wrench is all you need.

I've done this at least 10 times, so feel good about what I'm saying. The tricky part is getting into the tight places with the hog ring plyers. Use the old covers as reference for where to hook the new hog rings.

Also, take special note on how the plastic washer/grommet/seat protector (call them what ever you want) are mounted so you put them back in the same order.

Good luck.
