Seat belt buckle too long & digs into my hip

Does anyone else have the problem of the female-end seat belt buckle being way too long and digging into your hip?

I'm a shorty too, and have the seat fairly far forward, and it still digs into my hip! I wish I could chop like 2-3" off the stiff cable and re crimp it down or something. Anyone come up with a solution for this??

I think they are too high, and unsafe. The belt rides above most peoples hips and in a severe accident may cause injury to the abdomen. Lowering the mounting point may help but I have not spent enough time looking into it. Moving the mounting point back may help what you're talking about. I believe the mounting point is reinforced but that can be duplicated or improved in one way or another.

it would probably be simpler to find a buckle out of another mazda that's shorter... maybe a truck?

Yah the mount is a reinforced counter sunk nut welded into the floor. Moving it is not an option without serious cutting & welding.

I like the shorter belt idea, time to start keeping an eye out

And I know you could paint it to match so I'd just go this route if I were you

Check an old 80s B-series mazda truck. I know that some of the interior parts are very similar to our FBs. The seat belts from one may be an option.
