I got this crazy idea when looking at some old photos to try to find my old first gen. I was one of my first 7's and was quite a frakenstein of 1st gen goodness, a black 1980. It had a mikuini side draft carb, racing beat exhaust, GSLE limited slip and lot of other stuff. It's probably the only first gen in Texas with a hood scoop. I saw it pop up on cragslist about 10 years ago with a rollbar added but haven't seen it since. Has anyone ever tried to track down your old car or had experience trying to do that through the DMV?

 

The early cars are very difficult to track down because they do not use the current 17 digit vin number. I've tracked down a few cars over the years but its been very difficult and time consuming. Posting pictures and the vin will no doubt help but will not guarantee finding the car unfortunately.

 

Not RX7 related .. however I read a story about a guy who found his stolen Austin-Healey 42 years later.

So you never know .. your black SA may still show up somewhere when you least expect it.
