SE fuel pump/fuel screen...

I am noticing a little hiccup in steady driving. Replaced the fuel filter less than a year ago. I've heard there is a fuel pump screen that gets clogged up either in the fuel pump or gas tank, or line...????? If so where is it?

Second thing is since my '84 is too old to use a new fuel pressure guage (to diagnose, the kind mechanics use) I want to either buy a kit to make a quick connect fitting so i can slap on a guage. What I'm getting to is the question: has anyone ran into the problem of trying to read their fuel pressure and how did they do it?

Third thing is I'm most likely going to replace my fuel pump but what to replace it with? Holley Blue or Red or are they too loud? I'm looking for soemthing quiet but good output....

Are you runnig EFI if so they Holley ain't gonna get it done. On the SE pumps there is a screen in side the pump. Have you checked volatage back at the pump at idle and under throttle. it could be really low. What about servicing the injectors?
What is your setup motor and fuel wise?

the cheapest F/I pump I found is the MSD brand.

Yes I'm running EFI. I have Accel super coils, NGK plugs and wires, RB header, RB presilencer, RB powerpulse, RB lightweight steel flywheel, SPEC stage 3 clutch. I work at a dealership and recently ran it on our MotorVac machine. It cleans injectors and cleans carbon from inside the motor. I recently resealed the injectors AGAIN, but still smell a tiny bit of gas from the engine area.

My 84 SE pump had small plastic cone shaped screens in the inlet/outlet of the pump. You'll have to remove the pump to get at them--they actually fit inside the fuel inlet/outlet.
