Sale Price of 1983 GSL

I am currently looking at a 1983 RX-7 GSL. The car has 48,xxx original miles on it and is very clean inside and out. The owner has recently replaced many parts to bring the car up to date such as the cooling system components and the clutch. The car has been garaged most of its life so the rubber on the car is in pretty good shape. The colour of it is a bronze exterior with a tan leather interior. My question is, what do you all think is a good price to pay for the car? While opinions might vary, I am looking to get a general consensus as to what a good deal would be. Thanks in advance.

A good deal would be getting the owner to accept $4000 USD for the car. A car with that kind of low mileage and a straight, clean, shiny body is in the $5000+ range if it still runs smoothly and will pass the sniffer handily...

low mileage can be a bigger problem than high mileage a lot of times. the car probably hasnt been run often enough and is most likely going to give you all sorts of trouble later on when you drive it daily.

While I can agree to a certain extent about the low mileage being worse vs. high mileage being better, my preference would be low mileage most definatly. The seller has stated that the car has been run every couple of weeks at least, and, like in my original post, he has tried to bring everything up to date on the vehicle. I can't think of anything that would give me big trouble off hand; what are you thinking of in specific?

With 48,000 miles the car has been driven approximately 2,526 miles per year. I would think this to be more than enough to keep the car from having problems. I have a 1994 FD with 10,5xx original miles on it which equates to approximately 1,312 miles per year and I have had no problems related to the car not being driven daily thus far.

Thanks for the responses.

I would'nt worry about the whole TOO low milage thing. I'd say $3000 would be a good price.

I recently bought a creampuff 85GSL with 49k for $1700. An extraordinary good deal. All mechanics good, body straight, bang at FL corner (so I bought a new fender). Lovely, lovely lovely. I wouldn't take less than $3000 for it (but I'm not selling!)

I met the owner, he bought it new, drove it enthusastically to his office (private parking spot, so NO dings in doors) a few years, then lost interest, finally sold it to me. He has a couple MBZs to drive to the office.
