safe motor storage

I have 2 good 12a's in the garage. One I've had sitting for 3 months now. I need to know what to do to insure that I'm storing them properly? so they'll run when I need them.

drain all the coolant you can and spray some oil/wd40/mmo/atf/anything oily down the carb, and spin it over a few times.

ideally put em in a plastic bag, but its ok uncovered indoors

When draining the coolant, make sure to remove the small bolt at the bottom of the center iron (on the drivers side).

stuff paper towels on the intake and exhaust ports and secure them with a duct tape or similar. this is to ensure no junks get inside. if the intake is in place, seal the carb properly along with brake booster port/line

Thanks for suggestions , I'll follow them. Who thinks I should leave the oil in the pan and turn the motor from time to time or what to keep the apex seals lubed?

engine oil down the carb mouths (some into each side) into the combustion chambers, then hand crank them a few revolutions to mix it around. Oil in the pan isn't doing much good since it takes a quite a few cranks to get it up into the motor and even then its the oil metering lines that feed the seals/combustion chamber via the carbs anyway. Pouring in much more direct. 2-3 oz per side should do it. helps to go out and hand-spin the engine every few months too (presume these are out of the car).

Carbs should be empty of gas too. Maybe some compressed air to force fuel out??
Carb and exhaust should be sealed to prevent moisture. Do this procedure every winter on my 7and she starts up from 7mo slumber first crank every time. (I also dump a can of SeaFoam into the full fuel tank and run it thru the carb a few minutes before final shut down, but that's obv for a mounted engine...)

Marvel Mystery Oil is a good idea in the chambers too. As said, plug all vacuum ports, intake and exhaust ports etc.
