Sad, sad day

Well guys it's a hard thing to say but the FB got into an accident with me today. Feel free to skip to the bottom for my insurance question if you don't wanna read the story.

[STORY]
Just 5 blocks away from my school the two lane road converts into one lane and normal traffic on the left lane is to turn left so I stay on the right still taking my time when the van next to me (his front bumper to my driver's door) doesn't turn left. No biggie we get to the conversion and I slow down when I hear a big *** SCRAPE. The ******* douchebag just scrapes my driver's side door. Leaving his paint and a nice sized dent and bend in the door just about the same level as the door handle.
I park the car and the guy is still sitting there with this dumb look on his face he rolls down the window and I I walk up and say "WHAT THE ****?! Did you not see me? Was that it? Cause I know you ******* herd me you ******* douche bag." I calm down for a second and look at the damage to his car, nothing. Police get there 1.25 hours later.

[Question]
The car is under my uncle's name cause we didn't feel like goinh through the hassle of new plates and stuff, plus he pays a **** less more than what I would pay if I had it under my name. Liability sucks though.

If the other driver is found at fault and we claim insurance n stuff, will his insurance go up?

It's sad to see another 7 get into an accedent in the same week.

To the best of my knowledge I think that insurance is based on your own personal driving record, so as long as the insurer of the car doesnt get in any accidents then they get the same premiums. However if you went to insure another car, you would be paying more than before, hopefully not him as well. I dont believe they can hit two birds with one stone there, but someone will correct me if im wrong.

In massachusetts, when you get into an accident you driver points go up only when the total reaches over $1000. When that happens you get surcharged points added.

as long as your found not at fault, his points will not go up and his primium will stay the same. Then again.. this is in massachusetts. call his insurance company and ask:p
