Sad junkyard find.

I bought a 84 GS from the local Salvage yard today sight unseen. I had them load it on the trailer and noticed how complete it was (minus wheels) and how nice shape the body work was in. Got it home put it up on stands and started looking at it. It's a West coast car (sticker from dealer) with 97K miles. Completely rust free. Sadly there is no tittle, and the salvage yard has no way of officialy selling it to me, it's basicaly on loan while i take whatever i want off it. When i return it, it will be promptly Crushed. What is worth saving off of one of these? I purchased it for the engine only as i'm swaping it into a midget, but what should i save that people would be interested in?

It's very sad that this rust free shell will head to the crusher, but there is nothing that can be done about that.. so what should be saved?

Thanks,

Daniel Cummings

Swap the VIN plates with a shitty rusted out RX-7 with a title. If you don't wanna do that I'd take the doors and fenders if I were you.

Or if you really had spare time on your hands you could take off both front lower control arms and the rear passenger one and sell them to me for some $$$

Is the car clean? as in not stolen?

There is a business in Alabama or the area that can get you a title. You sell the car to them for a dollor and send them a bill of sale. They get a new title and sell the car back to you. Cost is about $100. They have a website but you will have to search for it. I have a sheet with their web address at my parents place, I can find the info this weekend if you like. PM me.

Save those wheel wells, definitely. Rust free wells are hard to come by these days.

Hopefully the trailing arm structural plate isn't rusted out on yours like it was on mine.

Read This !...
If you want the car , there is a way , here in Nebraska the car has to have been un registered for 6 months ,
then you can get a salvage title.
Dont let a good car get away , you can also call any law office, and ask to talk to lawer , most of the time they will tell you over the phone what you want to know ,
if you cant get threw at one try another untill you do
good luck , let me know how you turn out , PM me.
Jeff

Get Real! Check out any car befor you buy it. Get it from a stand up person (your call) or get a bill of sale. Any quasi-title is going to screw you in the end. Don't put a lot of work into or fall in love with anything that is kinky. Just a waist of time.

I say i bought it.. but here's the story. I went down to the salvage yard and asked him if he had any RX-7's. I was in need of a starter, cltuch, and flywheel and various little bits. He said yeah he had one way in the back that he could dig out for me. I asked him what he would want for the whole engine. He told me his price and i agreed, and i then enquired how i should go about pulling the motor. He said.. look i'll make you a deal, i really need to start moving some of the older cars through here, if you have access to a trailer i'll let you take it home, you take anything you want off of it, but just bring me back the shell when your done, i'll crush it, get my money, move my car, and you'll get your parts. So i made the deal before i even looked at the car. So i say i bought the car, but really it's just on loan from the salvage yard. Yes i could be a jerk and not take it back, but i gave him my word that i'd return the shell with everything that i didn't want on it. And that's how i operate, he will get that shell back. But i wouldn't be objectional to just not bringing him alot back . This guy is a real stand up honest guy, and i want to stay on his good side so i can continue to get good prices on parts from him. I've got alot of stuff from him lately, and he is technicaly a Salvage yard so the public doesn't have to be out in the yard but he lets me go anyway to pull little things.

So let me know if you need anything from it. I Have a perfect hood, and rust free everything.. unfortunatly the only pannels that are banged up are the doors, and fenders (how does that happen, i think it's just from being moved around, although he was very gentle with it when he loaded it for me).

Anyway, LMK what you need
