SA22C, What options for bigger brakes?

Hi,

Has anybody fitted big brakes on their 1. gen? And I mean bigger than the ones fitted on the GSL-SE? Any kits around?

You could grab the whole front strut from the SE, it bolts right on. If you get the front struts and the rear axle, you get a better bolt pattern, better brakes and a limited slip differential.

i 2nd this... because i already have 4x110 rims, and i'm not particularly impressed with the stopping of my car.

of course, that WILL change with a GSL rear end, SS brake lines, and some Hawk or Porterfield or something of that sort all around.... oh, and a pressure bleed.

i know there has to be a way to make the 2nd gen 4 piston calipers fit a 1st gen hub.

hell i have seen kits where they have adapters that put the 2nd gen 4 piston calipers on a AE86! why not a 1st gen?

It is possible.

Just about every Australian rotary workshop sell kits to fit either Volvo 4 spot calipers or 2nd gen 4 spot calipers to bigger discs on a 1st gen.

At prices up around AU$1000-AU$1500 depending on calipers.

I'd have to say go with the GSL-SE brakes all around if you can get a set at a decent price. The limited slip is obviously one nice addition as well. If you can find a full setup from an SE, the actual transfer process is very easy, I was surprised at how easy!

I just ordered my braided brake lines and I should be able to try this freakin car out before I go insane!

Where did you get your braided lines (SS braided, I'm assuming) and for how much. I'd like to do these asap as mine are approaching 20 years old and I'll be Solo IIing it shortly. Thanks.

I bought mine from mazdatrix, $94 +shipping. They even have lines for a SA that has been converted to GSL-SE braks, which will make the job of installation much easier!
