S5 turbo motor into SA?

How much work am I looking at to swap my buddies S5 turbo motor into my SA? Besides the common sense work of turbo piping, wiring harness, ECU placement, IC mounting, Cooling? beyond that how hard of a swap is thing going to be? I'm looking at building a MegaSquirt system to control it all. He's wanting to do an LS1 swap, and I've got dibbs on the motor. I know I'm looking at upgrading the fuel system. How much of a is the wiring gonna be?<---big concern

THanks guys

Gene

With a standalone, wiring isnt an issue.
With the stock EFI,wiring is a bit of a job,but its not bad after plenty of research and coffee. You also have to deal with the electric OMP of the S5 interfering with the front cover style 1st gen engine mounts if retaining the OMP.

Oh....and your so going to get locked out by mods, since this question is asked 14 billion times a week.

Steve......S5 swapguy.

yeah

yeah just looked through the archives, found some stuff there. Wasn't planning on retaining the omp, just run premix. The motor is running REALLY strong on 10 psi, and stock injectors. If I up the secondary injectors to 720's or larger is 14-17psi safe?

That question is best asked in the 2nd gen section, and you'll get bent over for asking if you don't research first.

I run 800cc secondaries and hit 14-15 all day long.
With my old S4 setup,I hit 14 with 680cc secondaries and still had no issues. The stock EFI is set rich and a leaner mixture makes better power. You just have to skirt the danger zone where you go from lean full power,to lean detonation.

If you run premix, youll have to use a standalone ECU since removing the stock electric OMP will seriously **** off the S5 ECU. A standalone will allow fine tuning of whatever size injectors you pick. They can be ANY size, you can always crank them down to make best power for the boost your running.

That is well past the efficiency range of the standard turbo.
