S4 upper intake manifold on a GSL-SE?

Hey guys/gals.

I'm going to need secondary injectors when I turbo my car, so my idea is to swap on the upper intake manifold from an S4. Does anyone know if the S4 UIM will bolt onto the GSL-SE LIM, or is the flange different?

Thanks!

It will not bolt on. But you can install the complete UIM and LIM onto the Se motor. There is only slight modifications. These is of course pertaining to a N/A S4 not TII. There is a write up somewhere in this section of the forum.

Thank you. I'm talking about the N/A S4 intake manifold. Do you know mods are necessary?

Did you mean to ask. Do you know which mods are necessary? The answer would be yes to that question. There is the filling of the exhaust port that normally enters the Se intake. You fill the opening on the Se engine. There is the replacement of the vacuum hoses because the S4 sits taller and some other small things. Best thing to do is find the write up for the complete details.

the extra injectors aren't in the upper, they are in the lower.

I'm talking about the NA S4... not the Turbo II. They are in the upper intake manifold, not the plenum or the lower intake manifold.

Flanges are different, you will need to swap both the upper and lower and I'm not sure what needs to be done with the lower to bolt up, but it will need some mods, iirc.

In the pics below, the blue is SE the dirty is S4, both of the uppers are RB carbed uppers, but that makes no difference as far as flange pattern.

If I had gaskets for the 2 it would be easier to show the differences.

You guys need to drink lots of heine to become creative. I've done mod on a TII lower intake to fit my old 13-B. In fact, I maybe using this one when I go turbo.

He could just use the blank metal offered from racing beat for adapting.
In doing the S4 swap onto the Se it's not complicated at all.

Haha... it's not a matter of creativity. It's a matter of functionality. I know that people use the T2 manifold on the 6-port. The whole point of me asking about the NA manifolds specifically was that I want to retain the operation of the auxiliary ports for better fuel economy and off-boost performance. If I didn't want the auxiliary ports, I'd just swap a 4-port in and be done with it!

Does anyone have any more information regarding this? I couldn't see the difference in the pictures. Thanks!

In the attached pictured where it is circled is the opening on the engine that must be blocked off because the S4 intake will not cover it. So the best way to block off that opening is to take aluminum foil and fill the opening then take something like muffler seal to put over the top.

The point Im trying to make is that anything can be modified to fit. **** if you ask me, 6port is a junk. but again, that is just me.

Ok I see what needs to be done. Thanks for the pic! When I get the S4 LIM, I'm going to bring it to my friend and have him weld a small piece of aluminum plate in place to cover that hole. That should work well I would think...

What is it anyway? Looks like its for EGR or something...
