S3 GSL-SE to S4 engine swap.. minor details
Well Ill try to get to the point here.. Had my new se for a week and the engine siezed on me.. Been Into rotaries for about 8 years, so know a bit . Anywho... I am using my se oilpan and front cover, along with water pump (which is a tad different but should work, same shape, missing a place for a screw).
I am doing racing beat road race headers, to something.. Pulled the sleaves out of my 5 and 6 ports, and getting the intake all emmision free and sealed up. I am putting a Dellarto carb and upper intake on it btw. Now heres my problem, the lower intakes for the se and the s4 are a tad different, mostly due to emmission crud... but the intake holes line up perfectly as do the bolts.. will have to take 2 studs out of the engine and replace them with my se studs though the s4 are a bit longer.... I ordered the 84-85 intake gasket.. Does anyone see any problems with this setup... I have reasearched for a long time, over years.. lol. And never saw a mention of a s3 13b intake working on a s4..... Ive got everything off my engine, and the new one, so I have been compairing and I feel confident.. after I seal up where I took my rods and emmisions stuff off, the intake should work fine. right?
Also, i am hopefully purchasing a lightweight flywheel.. So that means Ill have to get a counter weight from mazdatrix/ect for the 86-89 13b 6 ports? Clutch feels fine and I plan on getting a S3 SE tranny for now, as thats all I can find.
Ohh Im so excited, just got my engine today and untill I can save up for my other parts, I have alot of cleaning and engine removing and engine bay painting to be doing, oh and undercoating... Thats what a 2 year absence to rx-7's will do I guess... Guess Im getting my big HD tv in a couple years

Thanks but Im talking about the lower intake from a s3 13b to a s4 e 6port engine. Also, Id like a little less backpressure than the RB exaust...plus im never under 5k when im racing..the tourque curve is fun also ...LOL
