Rebuilding it? Why don't you give yourself a bit of an advantage and bridgeport that sucker?

Of course, if he knows his ****, when he hears the "bap bap bap" at idle he'll know what you did. :P

Oh and if "all" you are doing is exhaust and headers, you arent rebuilding the engine. You are modifying it, and if that is all you are doing, prepare to have your *** taken, spanked, and handed back to you. But if you want, get a new carb/intake setup and port it. then you'll have a better chance.

I would dare to say weber, although I have absolutely no experience with them I wont recommend any particular one. My personal preference is a sidedraft system, Dellorto and Mikuni's Are good, I think the Mikuni is far better than a dellorto (I think thats how its spelled....) Does anyone know if Solex ever made carbs for 1st gens? I installed a set on my buddies 1986 Corolla GT-S and it still runs like a champ.

But I think as far as power potential Weber would be the best, as you cant find Mikuni's anymore. And a downdraft would allow greater throttle response, espcially to someone who has never driven a car with sidedrafts.
