chances are your cars an FB so my bet is the leading igniter went out like KansasCityRepu was getting. Like he mentioned before try swapping them. use heat sink grease (find it at radio shack) when reinstalling them. Don't buy the igniter new unless your rich there over 100 bucks. also when I got my car the Cap and rotor where crooked and beat the cap up. take a look at that also.

two ways.

1. post a picture, and we'll tell you

2. look at pictures people have posted and compare to yours.

ignition is 81-85, so you need a leading ignitor.

engine is 83-85 12a

water pump and fan are from an 89-91?!

alternator is 79...

radiator is maybe an rx4? the overflow is "weird" for an rx7

aite, thanks man, im gonna order a new cap and rotor today so hopefully once we get that and put that in, maybe the bottom two plugs will work then, if not. im gonna have my wiring electrical engineer friend come over and check wires to see if electricity is gettin through.

Dood, we already solved the problem for you. since your running a later ignition you leading igniter is bad. thats the one facing the radiator. You can swap them and get it started. I'm talking about the 2 little boxes attached to the distributer. get the heat sink grease if you don't want to fry your 1 good one.

aite, so basically all u guys are sayin is that the leadin igniter, small little box thingy, the one on the left side is shot, and i culd switch that one around with the other one on the right side and it shuld produce spark to the leading ones and not to trailing. and with the new cap and rotor, i got no spark at all, so i do not know why that wuld be, but my guess is that some wire might be loose or the wiring is just messed up because whoever re-wired it did a horrible job. and i shuld also have a strong battery connection when trying to fire this thing up, correct? and wehn i say re-wired, i mean the wiring job of the car, not the spark plug wires and stuff because they are all correct. i checkd.

There not cheap, over 100 bucks, but I just got word that Rockauto.com has them for 49 bucks. or you can just find some in the junk yard. 2 or 3 bucks each. Yes the little box thing cost that f ing much.

Correct. 81-85 will work. New, they are normally $180+ each.

with the new dist cap and rotor, there isnt even any spark now, so we put the old one back on and still no spark. we also switched around the leading igniter and trailing igniter because the trailing worked before and it still doesnt get spark? what do you guys think the problem is? bad wiring? the trailing igniter shuld at least work, it did before.

so the leading igniter wasnt bad, just the wiring was bad, stuff was shorting stuff out and we got spark to all plugs now as i have felt. ouch. my electrical engineer friend came over and fixed the bad wiring, and got spark. engine almost started but the engine is flooded so it wont start, just gotta unflood it, then we got another rotary back on the road. yeahhhh.

The story: so we got spark all going, i knew the engine was flooded so i took out the plugs and cranked. gas went out and i let it sit to let it dry. later then i put oil in the leading holes to build compression and put the plugs back in. cranked it like 4 times and nothing. so i had my dad come out and work the choke and gas in the engine while i started it. it was beggin to start, on our last try it worked and smoke fills the building. we keep gas on for a lil and then let off. the whole building is smoke. i realized then how much i love rotarys.
