RX7.com's Bonez Cat back exhaust or race exhaust, Which to choose?

First off, are the Bonez exhausts good. Secondly, is the race exhaust a safe option for the 7 or is there a risk of not enough back pressure which is a major factor in engines going. If so is the race exhaust not an option compared to the Cat back exhaust. Also what about the Bonez muffler? Finally, is there still a decent power gain without headers. Or should i just go with the RB full exhaust.

Thumbs up exhuast

I am kind of confused on your "race exhaust" term. What is it?
The issued that i have always seen with the Bonez setup is that the Bonez stuff cannot be bolted right onto an RB header or other part. I would go with racing beat. if you're gonna get the whole system, get the street-port system. I think that RB just makes the best exhaust setup, period!!! look out for Paul Yaw's new headers and such coming soon!!!

I have the RB SP full racing exhaust, and I'm very satisfied. Major power gain over stock. Not overly annoying sound, but deep idle.

Do you use the RB SP racing exhaust on the street? Is it a direct bolt on application? Any idea as to how much of a power gain? Is there a loss of streetablility ie. idles rough etc.?

My car is daily driven all year long. I am guessing that you have no emissions tests in your area. If you do have a tail pipe test, you'll fail with this exhaust.
The application was a direct bolt-on. All of the hangers on the exhaust are in the same place. The bitch part will be getting your factory exhaust off. Mine broke after the second pre-monolithic, so I got lucky. A Saws-All is the tool of choice to remove the back part of the exhaust, you won't need it if you're sure about the emissions tests.
The manifold bolts were kind of a pain, but I removed the ACV and air pump, so getting to it wasn't the problem. Work them back and forth, use some type of lubricant, and be patient, you'll be sorry if you snap one off in the housing.
Get yourself an ACV block-off plate and a dual alternator pulley from Mazdatrix. You'll need two belts for the alt or she squeak above 4K RPM.
I don't know what power increase, value wise, there was, but it was very noticeable. It sounds great when the secondaries kick in, and the idle is as smooth as b4. The only bad part about this is dropping the $700+ to pay for it.

since I have emissions here (visual test only, but still) and I need the backpressure of SOMETHING to open my aux. ports, I opted for the bonez converter "system", it bolts on to the stock manifold and replaces all 3 cats. It comes with a pre-silencer and a high flow cat all in one unit. 2 nuts on the manifold studs, and a set of bolts on the rear flange and that's it. The noise was up over stock, but there's a hole in the exhaust in front of the muffler so that's part of the problem. I noticed the power increase. My cat was shot so this was a no-brainer for me. I've heard VERY good things about all of the RB systems. If you don't need emissions stuff, that might be the way to go if you've got the cash to spare.
