RX7 CD player installation kit...I need one
hi everyone! I need an installtion kit for my 85 rx7. I have my cd player installed, but I had to jimmy rig it in the dash space. Whatever was there before i bought the rx7 is gone, and there is enough space in that hole to put another cd player. ha ha ha!
If anyone has any ideas, please pm me. thanks.

the flaw in my design is it's for detachable face stereos only...
BTW I like the 'interests' in the profile:
"I like to drive my rx-7 to work, i like to drive my rx-7 to school, i like to drive my rx-7 to go shopping, i like to drive my rx-7 to the beach, and i like to just sit in my rx-7 and act like i'm driving it. "

Manntis's setup is probably the easiest and best looking one to go with. The reason that space is so damn big is cause stock 84/85's had a tape deck, radio and equalizer all stuffed in there, so when you take it out your left with that huge hole.
is that burlington as in Vermont or some other state?

Yeah, so welcome to the forum. Everyone else seems to have answered your question before I could get here, but you can buy a cheap kit at Target (in the automotive section), Schucks, or even some car stereo places. I personally would reccomend Manntis' install bracket. Its nice looking, well crafted, and adds cup holders and a storage pocket rather than the typical blank black panel . For ordering information, check out www.rotorhead.ca.

I designed mine after buying a $20 Metra kit that was such an ill-fitting, ugly generic plastic POS that would let anyone steal your stereo merely by tugging on it...
Mine's a full bracket that bolts into your stereo at the sides and has a brushed metal facia larger than the opening in the dash, meaning thieves have to spend considerable time opening everything up to get your stereo out.
It is pricier, being made of lasercut metal in a looow production volume. Depends whatcha want
Oh, and the face on mine is motorized - it's the same standard size as a detachable face, and the facia fits so snugly there's plenty of room for the faceplate to swing open yet no need for the plastic trim ring.
I have 11 left, I think.
