OH Rx7 brake calipers

I have a 1985 rx7 GSL-SEin need of new rear brake calipers. I can’t seem to find a source. Has anyone found a source for these?

Unfortunately, rebuilding your existing calipers is the only viable solution. If you need rebuildable used calipers you will have to search facebook, ebay, and the forum marketplaces, plus anywhere else you can think of. When I need used parts a lot of the time I can get them from Kyle at The Rotary Doctor in Neosho, Mo. There are others that specialize in 1stgen parts. Riggs Vintage Mazda in Alberta is one that comes to mind.

Rebuild kit at MazdaTrix.

Rebuild is straight-forward as long as your caliper bores are in reasonable shape. The parking brake mechanism takes some ingenuity using a vice to collapse the spiral spring, but is easy enough once you've studied the way the cam and spring works. Take the time to do the parking brake O-rings or they'll be the part that leaks since you've rebuilt the rest of it - as they'll become the weak points. Also, follow the FSM on where the 3 types of grease go - it's important.

Lastly, just a quick word that the NLA state of brake calipers for the SE emphasizes the need to check them regularly and bleed them occasionally to prevent rust formation in the bores. That's one form of damage that will put you in a bind (*pun intended). Good luck,
