rx3 housings for 12a rebuild?
I'm sure this is the millionth time someone has asked this but I need to be pointed in the correct direction. I tried searching with nothing coming up like I want. I'm going to have to rebuild my ITA rx7 soon and trying ti see if I can find parts for the 12a. Can I use 12a housings from early rx models? How exactly does that work when on ebay there is a guy selling rx3 housings and claims they can be used for rebuilding rx7 12a? The housings seem like the hardest to get my hands on.

depends on the year of the Rx3. if they are 1974 or newer they go right in. 73 and earlier need carbon seals, and i think there is a tension bolt in a different place, i'm not sure, but when you do 74+ housings in an early engine something needs to be drilled
if you get protested its not legal, because in the Secret Concourse Car Association, you have to have the correct housings, which have been NLA for quite a while.
the other option is the Rx8 engine, which is a legal swap in IT

I'm the one with the housings on eBay, or at least have two sets on eBay. They would require the early irons or at least some modifications to work with a first gen intake and irons.
I have revised my eBay listing to indicate that they will not work on 1979-1985 RX-7s
