RX-7 Road Trip!

I drove the daily driver '84 beater over 1100 miles this weekend! I went from Pittsburgh, PA to Lexington, Kentucky. I went through West Virginia on the way down and Ohio on the way back.

Gas mileage was impressive for a bone stock 7 with "custom" gutted cats (they unclogged themselves lol), dirty air filter and a recent stretch of 3 years sitting......... 25, 27, 24, and 30 (!!!) mpg. I dunno how I beat the EPA number (29) with my fairly heavy foot and 20 years of misuse, but I did.

I also rolled over 100,000 miles on the car. It didn't get over the second little line on the temp gauge and oil pressure was perfect. What a good $500 car!

I saw an FB and an FC in KY, but none of them winked back . An RX-8 driver did beep and wave at me though.

Pics coming tomorrow.

Kev

I found another FB locally last week, winked at him, no response, and these are rare here...

Gad to hear someone else drives thier car on long trips, mine covers about 1000 miles a week and is faithful and reliable, currently 135,000, goes away for winter though...

I'm about to leave on my road trip this weekend.

going about 1000 miles or so. When my car was stock I would get 26-27MPG on the freeway. Since I've switched all the engine stuff out I'm curious where I'll be at now.

Driving down to Hemet? If you are, wanna roll back with us next Saturday morning for RotaryFest @ the former Treasure Island Naval Station. We will be meeting RX7Doctor and his sons Cowboy and Kori @ Lost Hills.
