Rusty rear axle.

WooHoo! Scored an SE suspension swap in VA!!!

Now. The axle housing is rusty as hell and it needs rebuilt anyhow. (Whines... No problem. I'm gonna throw in a Miata Pumpin with Torsen and 4.3:1 Ring and pinion.)

I wanna make sure the axle doesn't rust out and I want it to look decent, hence I wanna paint it up... How best to do it? Sandblast? Wire wheel on a drill?

Sandblast = more expensive, potentaily better job, less work for you

Wire wheel = cheaper, hella more elbow grease

If you wire wheel, just knock off the loose stuff and hit it with some rust converting primer.

Since it's gotta be rebuilt, I'm not TOO worried about getting sand in the housing, but how do I get it out once it's in there? Just wash with water and soap. Cause after it's all clean, I'm gonna slam the Miata diff on it... Which is the next victim in line to get assaulted by my Visa.
