runs bad

Has been parked for 2 years. New fuel pump, plugs and wires. Starts and Idles good. Hesitates when accelerating. After initial hesitation, accelerates good thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. At around 50 mph, starts to run poorly and almost died and then limped back home. Wouldn't start after this. L2 plug is fouled, all others look ok. Any suggestions?

first off, DRAIN the tank. get that old gas out of there. next, REBUILD the carb and replace the fuel filter. heck, you may want to add a second one before the carb if you dont clean the tank or are unsure of the tank's inner condition. my guess is that the carb is clogged up with crap from the tank. a lot of times gunk collects in the air bleeds and the bottom of the float bowls and plugs the jets when you are accelerating.
