Unhappy Rough idling when put into first gear!

Well just to start off i have a 1985 gsl-se model and i have recently noticed when i put the car into first gear it tends to start idling roughly and the rpms drop from a normal 1200 to about 800 then it fluctuates back and forth like it almost dies out but then it breaths again. The wierd thing is when i put it into nuetral it starts to idle just fine. I have a manual so it couldnt be transmission fluid or anything like that could it?!? Please help im confused. Possibly could it be a vacuum leak?

Sounds like your clutch is dragging - usually a slight leak in the clutch master or slave cylinder.

After you have put it back into neutral, did you let the clutch pedal go? Normal idiling speed would be around 800 not 1200, i would take a look at your BAC valve, the electric solenoid portion. If the solenoid works, cleaning out the port would probably help.

clutch master is next to brake master, and the slave is located on top of the tranny.

the bac is on the drivers side of the intake "re-egi"

look at the FSM
