Rotors & bearings & spindles, oh my!

So a friend of mine needed new front brake rotors on his 85 GSL and we have an 83 GSL parts car.

Here's an overview of the procedure:

1. He took the rotors from the 83 and got them turned.
2. 83 rotors still had inner bearings in place, so before mounting them, he went to put his original 85 outer bearings in. They don't fit.
3. Ran to store and bought 83 outer bearings.
4. Packed bearings.
5. Put bearings in rotors.
6. Put rotors on spindles, until the outer bearing stops short. You see, they're too small.
7. Drink & smoke a little. Swear a lot.
8. Attempt to remove spindles from 83, in hopes that they'll mount to 85.
9. To be continued...

Anyone have any words of wisdom, engcouragement, or just plain good old fashion mockery?

Brian

84-85 spindles were different. They used bigger bearings as you have found out. Get new 85 rotors and sell the turned and shiny 83's on ebay to recoup some of the $$$.
