Talking Rotaryshack Finished My Tranny Swap + More!!!

I brought my GS to Robert at Rotaryshack and I recieved an Automatic-to-Manual swap, including driveshaft and pedal assembly. He installed a new Clutch that I bought, installed MSD, and fixed my headlights with a new motor on the right side. He removed my rat's nest, tuned the carb and adjusted my timing. He had to make a precision tranny mount, and he went the extra mile with everything. He helped me through all of it. I get the car tomorrow and pay the second half of the payment - a very reasonable $900!

Tranny Mount / Reverse light wiring
MSD Install
Auto to Manual swap (labour+clutch lines and cylinder etc..)
Clutch Pedal Assembly (a bitch to put in)
Driveshaft
Removed Rats Nest
Fixed Headlight relay and installed a new Motor on the right hand side
Did some Misc Wiring
Adjusted Timing

I thought the rule on the Forum was no advertising or endorsement like on this thread. Otherwise the forum would quickly fill up with descriptions of minor services/modifications by the hundreds of rotary mechanics around. The other side of the coin is we should not provide critical comment on the work of a shop to avoid legal action.

IanS, as you rightly point out, there is a goodguy/bad guy forum of the RX-7 Owners Club where, subject to that forum's rules. you can make comment on your experience with businesses and individuals.

No one looks at that forum! There have been 11,000 posts.

If it comes to the use of Forums, the First Gen 1 is the least popular if you compare posts with the number of Gen 1s.

Are you basing your data spew on the number of posts as a ratio to the number of 1st gens manufactued or to the number of 1st gens currently licensed and on the road ?

I bet this is actually a more popular ( with the owners ) forum.

Remember: "Understanding Statistics" is an oxymoron, just like "country music", "pretty 2nd gen", etc.

There is a rule against advertising unless you are an approved vendor, yes. As for giving credit when you've gotten good service, yes it *should* be moved to the good-guy/bad-guy forum, but as long as it is relevant to work on his first gen, I'm deciding to leave it here. I'm going to copy it to good guy/bad guy, because many people do *look* there when deciding whether or not to use the services of a certain company, but I believe there is intrinsic value in letting the 1st gen section know of someone who went the extra mile.

Hell, I pimp people who go the extra mile (like Carl) all the time. If I had to go and move all my posts to good guy/ bad guy, I'd be here all night...

Guys, as long as it doesn't get out of hand, and these posts don't become so numerous that they push alot of good threads off the main page, I'll let these kind of posts stand. Just... keep them to a minimal, and only when service is exceptional.

If anyone has concerns, feel free to PM me.

Cudos to Robert. Good to hear about good guys doing good. Which is good.

Jon

Lies, damned lies and statistics! As an epidemiologist I am a certified oxymoronic.

While some 360,000 gen1s were sold in the US, the only recent estimate I have seen suggests less than 100,000 still exist, the rest having been scrapped. Even at that number the ratio of posts to cars is low compared with other gens. You could argue that other gens are not so reliable, and need advice more frequently. While the scrapping rate seems high, it is far lower than the average early 1980s car.

I use this forum because of the quality of the posts not the quantity!

wanna talk statistics...then compare the 335,000 posts of the first gen section to the 11,000 of the good/bad guy section

LOL I used to be a QE years ago, so I hear you Read the following words in Demings voice: In addition to the reliability factor, I suggest we entertain the possibility that we 1st geners are obviously inherently wiser in our selection of gens, demonstrating our impeccably better taste and demonstrably superior intelligence.
