Rotary port valve actuators

After I removed the split air valve for an RB performance exhaust system, i realized that the rotary port valve actuator vacuum hose isn't conected to anything. After looking throught the Haynes manual, I'm at a lose of where it should be connected. A picture or a link to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't it hook up to the pre silencer on a full RB exhaust?

Well you have me thinking now.

The glass pack has a 'U' pipe that appears to be the air feed from the old air pump and fead into the converter, now gone.

Further investigation has lead me to find out that the port valves are pressure activated and not vacuum.

That pipe on the RB pre silencer, I just blocked off.

However I now realize that it is a pressure port. The car had some clown make an exhaust system for it and that pipe too was missing and no cat converter was there either.

So, if I take off the blanking plate and drill and tap a fitting to feed the actuators this should now work? Right?

To tell the truth, this is my son's car and I stumbled upon it. It was gararged for 9 yrs. good body but just sat and sat. So I know my way around piston engines very well and am learning about the Rotary.

Please hummor my ignorance, guidance here is needed.

From reading the port valves maintain velocity at lower speeds and then open at higher speeds when volume it requires is supported by the engine. I would expect that if they are working the engine would really spool up at the high end. What I am saying is that at high end RPM currently the engine most likely isn't breathing to it's max. Come to think about it, the port valve actuators may have not been connected since we have put the car on the road in August. I made sure that they are free and rotate in their bores.

I expect this will increase performance once working.

Should work.
I don't have actuators on my car so I have never messed with them much, but I do have a spot on my pre-silencer for them........

how long has it been this way? if its been that way for a while they may be locked into place...you'll want to loosen them up after reconnecting the backpressure tube...

here's a post about that...

Like I have posted, the car has been like this for some time. A butcher made the exhast system with torch cut flanges. The small tube to the middle of the 3rd cat was never there.

However in my reading I did come across the text on Rotary ports, so I made sure they were clean and free to turn in their bore's.

Will adapt most likely at length of 1/4" or 6mm brake line to feed the actuators of the port valves.

Thanks again.
