Ditto. I will document the original mileage with a photo and newspaper with the current date just for "***** and giggles", or in case I do want to sell it. Its easier to keep track of exactly how many miles you have on your new engine that way anyway.

I plan on doing the same thing to my Toyota 4x4 after I drop the new engine in that as well, although its kinda silly because my speedo is all wrong from the gearing and tires anyway, lol.

When switching from an 85mph to the 130mph speedometer, I had the 130 in my hand and removed a c-clip and rolled the odo to exactly where I wanted it..........

The same number that was on my 85mph odo!

to take out the numbers you need to grind some metal or bend it , but its tough, ill look into it more, and write again, just try and see how it all works and see if it wil come apart

i did mine by taking them apart and using a dremel to roll mileage back to match new tranny and engine, pretty easy

No !! I was wrong. Like NimrodTT said, just get the speedo out of the cluster and roll the numbers up with a firm grip and they'll move for you without stripping anything out ( except my tenth mile wouldn't move, but who gives a **** ). My old one I was trying it on now reads 00000006.
