Some 195/55-14 may make the difference, too; keeping a little higher sidewall.

My tire rub concerned me as I had to travel across a set of railroad tracks that were so bad that unless I drastically reduced my speed (50 mph to 30 mph) it would knock my CD-head silly. *grumbles* (...half-a$$ city-civil engineering).

I really do need new shocks, especially since the Eibach springs lowered the car as it is. But, going to a slightly less wide front tire worked in my situation.

well we rolled the lips flat today...still the same i'm going to call a place tomorrow about what can be done...either going with 195/60-14 or machining...although i think if machining is my only option i'd probably let these go first...lets see...

btw, had a bud come by today to try help...he found that the valve stem was what was leaking air...its pretty cool that instead of spare tires rx8's come with fix a flats and air compressors....

I had bad offset rims like yours. I had it machined down at a custom wheel place. The should be able to mill it down 1/4" which is usually the max on most rims. Your backs are fine though. The SE offset sucks. You can't get a lot of lip under there.

your SE doesn't even seem to look that much lowered. and you mentioned you rolled your fenders already, i think there could be a different issue instead...?

my epsilons on my old car cleared w/o rubbing whatsoever on ghetto cut springs


but then i reversed the plates so it doesn't bulge out as much; i'm guessing the offset is around -2? it still bulges out 1" out of my fenders and i have neuspeed springs


i also have my 16" 5zigens w/ a +38 offset
it tucks in if i drop the car much lower.






the 5zigen rims are dirty when the pics were taken btw, so they can actually be much cleaner when i polish them up!
they are for sale btw, as i have too many rims. maybe you wanna trade rims perhaps since i'm actually looking for 14"

I don't think so, the crash Dmg side only has a few less centimeters of clearance than the other sides, see pictures, their file names indicate which side of the car we are looking at. The gaps all around and only slightly different. And you can see where the larger width of the wheel, 7 instead of 5", plays a problem.

Agreed...now that I'm thinking about it try the 50 series tires on the front and if that still doesn't work then I guess your looking at either new suspension or getting those babies machined down to provide a proper fit...cuse your seriously running out of options!

 

well...suspension change is out of the question...the car already has new springs, struts, shocks, bushings, tie rod ends...i also have new sway bars yet to install, pitman and idler arms...

so right now my only options are tire size and machining...i have a shop ready to check out the rims for me...they said they are going to try different things to get them to fit...if nothing works then they are getting sold for the price i bought them for...

anyone interested in these rims keep checking the thread to see if i have to sell them

 

Too bad you're so far away. There is a guy in Berkeley Springs WV that is damn good at machining metals and alloys.
He fixed that one BBS rim of mine that the previous owner 'reamed out' to try and force fit it to his VW GTI. The cost? $30

 

tom...the shop i'm working with has a pretty good machinist or so i'm told...i'm pretty confident that if it can fit they can make it fit...

I'm happy to hear that you are going in the correct direction with this. If you can't machine them to fit, I'd just sell them.

Put some lower profile tires on if you can then you dont have to roll the fender

 

Low profile 14's?
