Smile Ride of my life

Hi Everyone.

I got the ride of my life last night.

Visited my engine builder last night.A Fellow Rotary owner was there . Ford Anglia with a Peripheral Port Rx2 engine in it.

So i asked if i could go for a ride.
He agreed, and i went for the Ultimate NA ride.

He kept it on light throttle till 7000rpm,after which he mashed it.
Hold on to your grab handle...the tacho went snap, past 8500.Rear wheels scrambling for traction.
Next gear, same story all over again, now doing +- 88 mph,and then into 3rd gear.

This was my firrst drive in a Peripheral.

Guess whats on my wish list !

Engine specs:

Rx2 12A Peripheral Port.
51 IDA Webber.
Matsuba 7 lb fuel pump
Full 3" exhaust, with one Airage silencer
4 speed Rx2 gearbox & Diff

Just thought i`d share it with you guys.

Karis

Don't forget to include ear plugs on that list.

P-Ports are awesome.

The Hp rating is only estimated, the Engine builder claims about 215 Flywheel HP.He is a bit scared to take it to the dyno, the diff isnt going to last to long anymore

I will try my best to get some pics,i dont have a digicam though.I`am sure i`ll be able to make a plan.

Really something to be remembered!

215 FWHP is not very much. Did you you meen at the wheels? Because he should be making more than that by about 50hp.

I agree, I thought Racing Beat estimates 12A PP to be about 270hp and 13B PP to be about 300hp.

All dependent on intake and exhaust setups.

This is a great thread on how to build your own p-port for those of you with any machining skill.

I never got mine tuned in to take to the dyno. And then i threw a seal due to some mistakes i made on assembly. I took the housings i made, down to Rob at pineaple for an opinion and he said with good exhaust and tuned in they were probably good for about 270 FWHP, so iguess it depends on the gear box and clutch as too how much you could see at the wheels. I might have been able to put down 230 or so through my 5.5 borg and beck with the billington flywheel, and the 4 speed. Hard to say but your engine builder is pretty close. He is likely within about 10hp our so of what i could have made. Im starting to build a 13b pp now. Im going for over 300-335 or so now. Its actually possible to break that 300 barrier with the 13b. With the 12a all you can ever get is like 290-300 with factory housings, ceramics etc. I think the 300+ in my gutted rx3 should do pretty good, i almost have the car down to 1900 now.
