no i didnt, i see what your saying about it.. but if that was the case it would never go into reverse, or am i wrong?

with the expansion and contraction of heat it could be anyones guess. Its an easy thing to rule out

reverse is not synchronized. all forward gears are.

Correct. Which is why when you put the trans in 5th first, you're using the 5th gear synchro to match the gear set speed and then can go into REVERSE without grinding. :O)

that might be useful if you were trying to go into reverse while moving forward... but then reverse would need a synchro too... if you're stopped and going into reverse, the gears aren't moving at any speed to be matched...
