Restoring '84 GSL, Rebuild and turbo 12A or Install TII?
I am seeking advice on the best way to proceed. I am the original owner of an '84 GSL. I wish to have it restored. Right now everything except the radiator and the fuel tank are original. It would also be nice if it ran faster. I do not plan to race it, but it needs more get up and go. It must remain street legal and pass PA emissions testing.
My main question is whether to have my engine (106,000 mi.) rebuilt and turbocharged or to have someone install a TII. If I have a TII installed can someone provide me with detailed info on what is needed and how to do it? I probably can't afford to have my mechanic spend hours figuring it out on his own. If I get a TII is there any reason to store the original engine?
I am also seeking advice on all new suspension elements keeping in mind that I can't lower the car much due to a high curb into my driveway which the local municipality will not let me alter.
Thanks for any advice,
Larry
