Replacing speedometer. What do i need to know?
I went to a junk yard when I first got my RX to find a seat. While I was there I found a guage cluster that looks better than the one I have now. Now I don't want to replace the whole cluster, just the Speedometer. I was wondering if anyone had done this, and what I would be required to do to get the new (130mph max) speedometer to read correctly. (The one I have now is a 85mph max speedometer.)
Any help would be appreciated.
And I already know to get a permit stating that the odometer is different. (or I could just set the replacement to match)

I am not sure if you can do that, however I know a few guys have change there from the original 85 to 120 or 140. Something like that but if is like mine a 81 FB with a 85 speedo and would like a 83 FB Speedo. I think some modification need to be done to have the 120 or 140 Speedo. However, all I know is that you have to replace the entire thing. Not sure if you can doit just the face plate alone. I would be interested if anyone have done that though. Beside that, wish I can help but that is all I know or else have someone design a new speedo number for your original speedo. I know two guys do this in the forum do a search and you might find them.
The 83 is 130 max. From what I have seen and heard, it is plug and play for all series 2 cars. Not sure about Series 3 ones, but most likely they are the same. Too bad they dont fit right in the older cars...
EDIT: Thinking about it, 83 might be 125. Hmm, its been way too long since I have driven my car.
