Replacing Carpet

im wondering if there's a guide

I noticed that the carpet is split into three parts. the back are(under the hatch), under the seats, and in the drivers side and passenger side.
im having trouble with the frontal area because there's a big black piece of plastic that's sitting on the carpet and with the very little know how of these cars I have, I'm kinda afraid to do anything to it because I don't know what it is or what it does therefore I don't know what it'd do to the car if I slightly damaged it and since im out of a job currently I don't have the money to replace anything

Im doing this because I got bored and decided why not. I had left over carpet from my dads boat that's the exact same shade of black as the stock color so why not....in the future if a drink spills or something on accident its marine carpet made to get wet i wont worry about it to much

i think that big plastic piece is what houses your heater core. if you unbolt a couple bolts, you should be able to wiggle it enough to get the carpet under it.

the carpet slides out from underneath it you donr have to pull it out. I just pulled my carpet last night all i had to pull off was the foot rest for the drivers clutch foor and the metal holder for the center consol mounted on the tranny hump in front of the shifter

just start locating bolts and 1 peice at a time. start with the plastic around the shifter it just prys out and it will expose some of the bolts. make sure to label your nuts and bolts
get your center console out of the way and you shouldnt need to take out the whole dash to get the carpet out just all the center console
