Where are you guys sourcing front floor mats? Looks like any available used oem are ratty and expensive, so OK with new copies, or even something that does not match original graphics but is at least cut to the correct shape? Car is an 81.
Thanks
I bought mine from garage alpha they later sold to sakebomb. I liked them but I think there is a difference between SA and FB because my passenger side doesn't fit right. I asked them about it and they were sure there wasn't a difference.. So maybe it's supposed to be misshappen at the bend from floor to firewall? I like the design, fit, and all that otherwise!
Have you looked at the ones Mazdatrix sells? They look like the right pattern. There may be a difference difference between SA and FB models, but they have both.
I got mine from a guy named @JasonS here on the site. Excellent mats. Got two fronts and the full rear mat with the fronts having an RX-7 logo in white on the black mats. That was back in 2013, so not sure he is still doing this now.

Interestingly enough Mazdatrix sells two different mats... One for 79-80, the other for 81-85.

I just bought a set for my 82 from Mazdatrix which are made by Lloyds a Covercraft company. They fit perfect and match the original carpet very well. They even have eyelets and anchors for keeping the driver's mat in place.
Ok I am an idiot. Took TJ and Rotnbrit’s advice and slid them forward a couple of inches and now they fit perfectly.
And Garage Alpha / Mazdatrix replied very quickly to my ‘do I have the right mats’ question. There is a compound curve forward right of the foot well that the mat is cut around.
if any village is short an idiot, I am available.
and Rotnbrit… you a Brit or am I misreading your tag?

Nope, I'm as American as they come. I chose the tag as a combination of my interest in British cars and rotaries. I've been working on cars for nearly 50 years.
I think anything with an eyelet or two is better -- in any vehicle. I got so tired of my floormats sliding forward, I made little stainless steel brackets that fasten through the eyelets and anchor to the front seat mount bolts. Now, the mats stay put, and I'm happy.
BTW -- many newer cars have a snap feature built into the carpet that does the same thing.
Anyone use the ACC brand sold on Rock Auto? There's a pair for $63 and another for $93 that is thicker in material. They advertise it being a direct fit and don't seem too expensive compared than what the other options are.
"Floor mats can improve your interior's look with very little effort. Protect your carpet from all the foot traffic and improve the look of your interior with an ACC brand floor mat. ACC Floor Mats are manufactured in all the same true automotive-grade materials and colors as their carpet flooring products which ensures a great match. All ACC Floor Mats are die cut based on your year, make, and model vehicle for a perfect fit. Don't settle for a set of floor mats that are only close in color to your vehicle's carpet, choose the ACC brand floor mats that will complete your vehicle's interior!"
Interesting. I would give it a try if I needed some. Mine cost a lot more than that, and that was 10+ years ago. You can always return them if you don't like em (I guess).
