Replace or Good enough?

I have an album full of questionable parts in the engine i tore apart. If some of you more seasoned rotorheads could take a peak to see if they are usable or not that would be wonderful. I will answer ASAP cause id like to see my baby on the road soon

The rotor bearings are toast along with the eccentric shaft. The rotor housing is also none usable. The iron might be good. It's depends on the amount of step wear which we can't tell from pictures. The rotors them self can be cleaned up and used after new bearings are installed.

WI Round 2

Thanks, but i will just be buying an '81 12a from the junkyard i used to work at. as for the chip in that rotor housing, there are a few places on the same side, and its just that top layer, the nickel plating or whatever it is that is scratched. the metal underneath is untouched. and do you think this seal could have caused it? it was on that side.

I doubt the broken seal caused the chrome flaking. Broken seals usually cause gouges. The rotor bearings worry me. This type of damage is caused by lack of oil.

It takes 5+ 12A motors just to find two good rotor housings. Also, you need to know the year that each motor is because the rotors, flywheel, and preferably the eccentric shaft need to be matched (79-80) (81-82) (83-85). What year is the motor shown in the pics?

It is a 79. Im going to buy a 12a that was good when it was pulled years ago out of the yard i used to work at. This one will just sit for now until I find out what i can do with it.

idk, that iron looks pretty jacked too. you actually can have the iron resurfaced, but its a very small amount of metal that you can take off it. if you havent already, you should download the FSM for your car. theres a link in the faq i believe and it is free.
