Renny into FB swap coming up!
Good luck with the project!I was gonna do the same but instead i am putting a 08 renny with only 32k on my turbo 2 and swapping the REW that is on the fc on a 05 rx8.On the T2 i am planning to keep everything that came stock with the reny including the 6 speed trans that it has been modified to fit on the stock location and uses the fc trans mount.Right now i am looking at a way 2 use the fc engine mounts on the reny so the swap looks clean.I hate getto rigged popcorn welding fab.lol
I am in Allentown PA and i have a ton of renny stuff if you need any.

Doesn't the 8's engine sit a lot farther back than the FB?
Like doesn't the front of the engine on the FB have to sit right about the front axle?
Interesting thread.
I like how you removed the engine from the FB. Just strut towers, sub frame, some innocuous wires and lines and down it goes.

No...............Is not even close that is why i am looking to get the fc motor mounts 2 fit on the reny but with the reny being shorter and cause of the oil pan it wont be easy.I have to keep the reny front cover to keep most of the accesories so i dont have that many options.I have to start a thread with some pictures with the trans setup and stuff but i have been working 2 many hours so free time is a luxury this days.
Update, 2015.7.6
Hi all! So I did some more measuring today and the frame rail thickness and subframe attachment to strut mount height are waaaaay off from the two cars. I am up for some fabrication but will have to think smart and easy on how to mount the 8's subframe to the FB. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. The measurements are below.
FB Strut to Subframe Mount distance ~ 18"
FB Frame Rail thickness - 3 3/8"
RX8 Strut to Subframe Mount distance >10"
RX8 Frame Rail thickness- 3 5/8 inches
The subframe bolt distances are different in separation and width across the frame. The strut mount angles are also different. I may transplant the 8's fender well and strut mount into the FB which may leave the FB sitting like a monster truck. This will be interesting indeed.

that said, Ken Scheepers' car was the only one (of 3 that i'm aware) that shared these kinds of details of how he did it. 1979 RX-7. naturally, this is the route i would take.
outside of that, i would tend to agree that a custom subframe would be best.
Swap Cancelled
Hi everyone! I'm sad to tell you that I decided to cancel the project. I will be selling the RX8 ASAP. The reasons for this are the suspension mounts are too different, the fuel tank is incompatible, and I am out of time. While having the skills, materials, and tooling capable of doing the project, I have to go back to school in a month and the car cannot stay at its current location. I appreciate all the support from everyone, helpful research, and knowledge. The RX7 will receive its 12A once more and I will drive that till rebuild time. I look forward to getting the 7 back on the road inside of the month. Take care and remember to never say never, try trying.
