Removing the rear window wiper?

Hey

I am going to start the corvette 3rd brake light install and have decided to remove the rear window wiper and motor....

Question.....I noticed that the bottom electical of the rear window defroster is plugged into the the motor housing..............if this is removed will the rear defoster still work?

Is there an easy way to take this out? I dont want to break the cover......

Thanks

Jim

Isn't there a hole through the glass when you take it out? =)

Ya there is a hole in the glas when you take it out, but it can be eassaly pluged.

You won't break it as long as you are careful. I took mine out, took the motor appart and put it all back together, and reinstalled it and it sitll works.

If I remeber correctly you have to very carfuly pry the black plastic housing off of the motor box, then you have access to the nuts and bolts you need to remove to beable to take the whole thing out.

I can't remember right now, if there is any screws in the motor housing, so take a good look first.

Best of Luck

The best way is to just replace the back window with one without a wiper. The bone yards are filled with them. All the proper atachments are the same.

I have also been thinking about doing this. I just like my rear window to be clear of any.... motors, y'know?

Ah the rear wiper, what a joke. Who ever looks back anyways, plus the thing weights a ton making your rear support struts wear out faster.

When I took mine out, I bought standard rear struts, and plug the 2 holes. I used NEMA 4 electrical plugs made by Hoffman, the are studed, wing nuts and have a neoprene gasket. Shot some gloss black paint on them and ta-da.

I have a GS rear glass that I will send out to get window tinted, but until then, I am happy with my plugged window.

The rear defroster has it own connections, seperate from the wiper.

i took mine out, and it came out without a hitch. just unbolt it, and pull it out... and disconnect the bottom window defroster plug. Your defrost will still work, but will just take about 30 seconds longer to get to that very bottom corner. I just used plugs out of the hatch that i had in a parts car.
oh yeah, and now my hatch stays up, whereas it didn't when the wiper was on it!
