OK you lost 35-40 lbs ot bad in my book,
now on the por-15 if I was you I would use a spray hammerrite paint.(get it at local home depot) the por 15 is for rust usually and will peal in just a few month trust me on this I know lol, I even tried it with por primer and it still pealed.
so save you money and go to home depot

If the POR-15 peeled off, you applied it improperly. The stuff is bulletproof, if used properly. This is the only stuff we use when we restore carframes and the results are quite amazing...

no I put it on just like it said.. and for some reason it started to peal.
yes I used it on a few frames I had(63 & 70 & 72 & 74 nova ,67 & 71camaro,and 68 & 76firebird)and it worked very well. but for some reason smooth surface's it wont hold as good. It almost has to have rust on it to work .I did my firewall on my 63 nova and it peeled in 2 months. and there was no rust on the wall and I did it to the letter.
SO I think I might know what I am talking about.....just a little huh
but yes it is very good stuff I will agree on that.

Stop hi-jackin' and start your own POR15 thread. (yes, it has to have a tiny bit of rust to work, BTW)

News Flash: I got a grand total of 20 friggin pounds out of my car. That's every little bit of sound-deadening tar, from the firewall to the spare tire well, and all the thin crunchy stuff on the drivetrain tunnel. I even took out the heater core to get the little bit under there.

Maybe on the day my '82 GSL rolled down the assembly line they were running low on tar and gave this one a really thin coat, I don't know.

20lbs. I would advise that this isn't worth it, unless you're building a dedicated race car.

One more word of safety: if you use an air chisel, wear a respirator mask along with your goggles as the tar dust is very nasty.

in my 81 there was only the tar in the front section, none in the back at all, only under the 2 seats, i got about 35pounds out of there alone,

i dont know weather you guys have the same doors as our 1st gens, if they are i can save you over 100lbs!! go and get some japanese doors and bolt them on, no side intrusion bars, weigh nothing at all!
