Removing Emission on GSL-SE

I'm gonna remove the Emission stuff for summer and will put it back on to pass air-care. What do I need to remove? Does it effect 5th and 6th port? Anybody know where I can get dual pulley for alternator to replace the belt for air-pump?

TIA,
Omid

You If you remove it, you might fail inspection. I was looking through the factory manual today to decide what I am going to remove, and there is a SHITLOAD of emissions controls. I am going to be one happy camper as I remove that crap.

As far as the 5th and 6th port go, it was recently covered here:

Relax...

Are you referring to the Rats Nest only? The Air Pump?
The Catalytic Converters? The EGR Valves, the BAC Valves, and so on?

As I said, there is a shitload of things invloved. About than 1/2 the **** in an SE engine compartment has to do with emmissions in one way or another. If you REALLY want to know, get a manual and identify everything that you won't need.

If you're referring to something bolt-on and bolt-off in a day, to pass inspection; - then leave everything else on, and just replace the exhaust manifold, cats, and air pump with Headers and a midpipe.

well i have a header and straightpipe on right now.

Where can i get a dual Alt. pulley so i can remove the air-pump. Isn't the ACV and stuff beside manifold bolt-ons that can come off???

So stuff I can remove that can be put on once a year are only:

Cat, Exhaust Manifold, Air-pump???

how about all that stupid muffler crap in the engine compartment and the stuff on intake manifold?? I mean as long as i can put the stuff in over a weekend i don't care. REMEMBER MY NEXT EMISSION TEST IS THE LAST ONE WITH GSL-SE, GOING BOOST AFTERWARDS

When I lived in Vancouver i wanted to get rid of all the emissions crap. I new it wouldnt pass aircare soo all I did when my little sticker thing expired was go to a car and peel theres off and put it on my car. Seriously, how many of you guys have been pulled over by a cop to check that sticker.

although we dont have testing here in minnesota, just to be carefull I made this fake sticker on my computer that I stuck on the bottom of the hood.

It reads.

NOTICE:
Automobile equiped with Rotary Eliptical Rotation Engine

EMISSONS EXEMPT!!!

CARB #8345DD8343.883

(I tried to make it as longwinded and coplicated as possible and then I half rubbed out the carb number so you cant read it.)

IT hase gotten me out of two exhaust tickets.

THe cops are always like:
"what the hell is a rotational elitiwhatical engine"

cool huh.

You can get an ACV block off plate to loose it, The dual belt alt pulley is the same as the FC so everyone sells it (mazdatrix, RB, RX7.com, SRMotorsprts etc.) With a header and straight pipe you will not have 6-port actuation without a line leading from the exhaust to the actuators to operate them with the 3psi of backpressure they need.

Racing Beat

Aluminum Alternator
Pulley - 2 Sheeve

Part Number: 11479
Retail Price: $42.00

Aluminum Alternator 1974-92 (all)
Double Sheave Pulley

The Aluminum Alternator Double Sheave Pulley reduces alternator RPM approximately 20% from stock RPM, and is intended for high performance and moderate race use. It is compatible with either the stock main pulley, or assuming you are not using the air pump, our Double Sheave Aluminum Main Drive Pulley.

Note: It is not practical to offer a standard replacement belt due to the variations of the RX-7 chassis. After measuring the distance required for your application, we suggest you contact your local auto parts store to obtain the required 3/8-inch wide replacement belt.
good luck

GSL-SE header................

On this and related subject:

Mazdatrix has a very trick Header set up. They take a Racing Beat header and modify it so the header itself powers the Actuators.

This set up seems to work much better than running a pipe from the straight pipe or pre-silencer. Maybe because of the back pressure missing the Cat causes?

You might be able to pull yours and send it to Mazdatrix to modify for a fee. Dunno.

The alternative seems to be simply wire the Actuators open all the time. But, you loose some low end torque that way.

You don't happen to still have that sticker on your computer? Or a picture of it?
