your cats will go bye bye.. without the air injection they'll get too hot or something like that..

Do you have smog testing? I removed all emissions(ratsnest, cat, air pump, etc) Removed the air contioning, and got a double alternator pulley from rotorhead.ca . I couldnt be happier

Don't remove the air pump belt unless you're going to also remove the air pump, cats and rat's nest with it all.

The cats need to have more oxygen pumped into them to help the fuel finish combustion. If that oxygen isn't there, then there will be a buildup of material in the cats which clogs them and leads to them melting from the intense heat of the exhaust.

If you remove the Air Pump belt but leave your AC belt attached, there is quite a bit of pull towards that one side of the engine, so make sure your belts aren't *too* tight or your could be putting undue stress on the e-shaft and related components. A "yoohoo" belt (3L220 belt that goes from e-shaft to water pump) will prevent slippage, as will a dual-alt-belt pulley. The 3L220 is cheaper and works just fine. It's a bit of a pain to get on there, but you put it on like you would a bicycle chain, as much as you can, then try to turn the pulley. They give an example in Carl and Pratch's emissions tutorial (www.mazspeed.com , check the facts section)

You can't pass emissions without it, so don't remove it.
Hope that helped.

Jon
