Relocating Alternator

Has anyone relocated thier alt to where the A/C compressor normally is?

Is it alot of work or will it bolt in? What size belt do you use, and how does it look?

lol, why? maybe to make the motor more visible i guess. as far as i could see, it wouldnt be too hard, as long as you had access to metal stock, and a metal cutter of the right kind. if anyone has done this, i'd like to see pictures... now i have seen race rotaries (13G, i think) that have moved the location of the altenator.

I think it would provide more even tension on the eccentric shaft and better contact with the waterpump... instead of using 2 belts.

This is the best picture I have of my alternator relocation. I used the Pineapple Racing kit.

No air conditioning ? Good God, man. Just to save the weight ? Does defrost even work without the a/c compressor on ?

I personally think it looks better with the alternator showing. Idk, I guess i'm different, no unique, lol. So, whats the advantage. Just a little more tension for more power to the air pump?

I don't drive it in the rain, so no need for defog or defrost. The heat and fan does a great job anyway. It is not hard at all to change plugs. It was much harder when the AC was their. Who needs AC? It did'nt work anyway so no need to have it. ****, if your hot drive faster.

P.S. this has nothing to do with the air pump at all.

I would like to install the kit simply to move the alt off of the top of the engine bay. I think it would look cleaner. Can't do it since I had to install ps, for those fat assed front tires I have. Soon I will be going from 7" rims in the front to 9" ones, hope the ps can keep up with them, lol.

i really liked the pineapple kit. very simple and very good quality stuff. i let it go to my friend because when i installed it on my car, i didn't like how close the belt was to the distributor. i would think it would have a little more clearance cuz he has a distributorless ignition...whatever those things were called again. lol

Distributorless ignition, meaning no cap, rotor and associated internal parts. CAS=crank angle sensor. The dizzy sends a signal to the ecu to tell it when to fire the plugs. That was the answer for the post above my CAS reply.
