relative transmission position???'s

So I am planning a T2 swap in the long term. for the short term I am beefing up the suspension and drive train. I'm planning on using The 12a to keep the car operational until I all the components and build the t2 motor.
My question is will the position of the t2 tranny(already acquired) be the same mounted up to the 12a as to the 13bt? is the length of the13b only forward, or does it affect the tranny location?

thanks in advance.

ps car is an '85 GSL

You will need to mod the shifter housing and rod on any FC tranny, forward 1", to retain the stock 1st gen shifter position. There shouldn't be any difference between the 1st gen 12A/13B since one can swap a 12A tranny into an SE with no change and vice versa.
