Recommended brake pads?

Hey guys, my brake pads are going out and I need to replace them. The old ones weren't the best and they faded and made lots of noise.

What do you guys recommend for a good brake pad for my 83'? Front discs only.

Thanks.

I have been running the Hawk HPS pads. Use them on my 7 and on my Saab 9-2x. Work pretty good.

Great, thanks for the reply. I'm assuming those fit right into your 7? And about how much do those run?

Thanks.

For the street go with Hawk HPS^. They are great pads and if you pair them with stainless braided lines they feel fantastic. Had a set on my car for a few years and still have lots of life in them. Great for autocrossing too. Not the best but if your not into changing pads for 6-8 40 second runs in one day then they are the pad to have. Haven't really heard of many other people using anything else for street use. In fact send me a PM if your interested and I'll sell the ones I have. I'd hate to throw them out when they still have a few years of use left. Actually I also have front and rear braided lines that have to come off soon too. Not trying to just pawn my stuff off on you or derail your thread, just don't want to throw away good parts that I'll never use again.

From RE-Speed the front non-SE HPS are about $60. http://mrcmfg.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=112_22_163

I use PBR ceramic brake pads, paid about $40 for them. A small difference in feel over the Napa semi-metallics I was using, but they don't glaze the rotors and cause a bunch of annoying squeals like the Napa's did. I'm happy with them.

Porterfield R4S. Best damn street pad PERIOD. Autocross and canyon run friendly. Rotor friendly. Brake dust is wheel friendly. Price is another story.
