Question Rebuilding Nikki carb - pump discharge problems

I'm just finishing up the rebuild on the carb of my daughter's 83 Rx-7, but the Pump Discharge Nozzle screw is not fitting properly. When I disassembled it, the screw, then the weight, and then the check ball came out. I thought the bottom of the brass screw was flush with the bridge at the time, but I didn't pay enough attention to it then. The Hygrade rebuild kit indicates that I should also have a pump discharge nozzle in there somewhere too, but after doing some searching, it sounds like the nozzle does not normally come out. Is this correct? The real problem is that the nozzle screw (without the weight or ball) will screw in, but the head now sits almost half an inch above the bridge. Looking down the hole, I can see where it's getting stopped. There's a restriction, that looks just like the discharge nozzle might, that's stopping it from threading in completely. Not wanting to force it, and possibly break it, I stopped. So I've got a couple questions.
1 - Should/can the pump discharge nozzle come out?
2 - Should the ball, then the weight, then the screw sit on top of it. Is this the correct order?
3 - Can I safely push the restrictive piece back down without hurting anything?

One last comment, I'm really impressed by the quality of this forum, and the people that contribute to it. It's refreshing to find a group of people more willing to help each other, than trash one another.

Sounds like you missing the nozzle. First comes the ball, then the weight, then the gasket, then the nozzle, then the brass screw holds the nozzle down.

I should have made mention that the carb I'm rebuilding came off of another Rx-7 from the wreckers. I guess that it is possible that the restriction that I'm seeing is the nozzle, and it is still stuck in the hole. The previous owner may have tried rebuilding it, but put the pieces back in the wrong order?!?! I should then be able to pry the nozzle out, since I'm sure it's moved from it's original place in the hole. Any suggestions on how to remove it? I've tried using a paper clip & PB Blaster, but it seems stuck in there pretty good.

I'll snap a pic of the assembly when I get home and post it. Somethnig doesnt sound right. If your speaking of the jet in the banjo bolt, leave that alone. Maybe you have the wrong brass weight in the hole. Its a stubby weight. About 1/8" dia, and approx 3/16" tall.

That sounds like the weight that I pulled out of there, but when I get home tonight, I'll have to check it to confirm. I was meticulous in putting every component in it's own well labelled zip-lock bag, so I know that these pieces originally came from beneath the brass screw. I just never got the nozzle or washer out. Right now I'm not even worrying about the weight or the check ball since it looks like there is something still in the hole. When I thread the screw down without the ball & weight, it will only thread in so far, then it hits the restriction, leaving about 1/2" of the screw sitting above the bridge. I agree, something doesn't sound right.

I looked at it again tonight, and it definitely looks like the nozzle is stuck in the threads and won't come out. Any suggestions on how to get that stupid little thing out? So close....
