Rebuilding heater core box - insulation?
Rebuilding heater core box - insulation?
So, I finally got the heater core box out to replace the heater control valve. On the vent doors there is some very thin foam type insulation covering the entire surface of the door, only about 2mm thick. I guess it's to seal the doors when you change vent position from heat to cool and defrost to heat etc...
Anyway, the insulation is completely dried out and deteriorating. Does anybody have any idea what I can use to replace this stuff? All I can find at the autoparts store is some thin weather stripping, I'm not to sure that would fit/seal all that well.
Thanks,
Karl

I think I'm going to try the wheatherstripping stuff you mentioned, I'm just not sure it's going to handle the heat from the heatercore. But then again, I'm not too sure how long the oem stuff lasted either... as it is now, the original stuff turns to dust just looking at it. Hopefully home depot will have some extreme temperature stuff.
