Rebuilding the differential

Ok well my GSL-SE is about to roll over 200K soon and the differential is sound bad, REAL bad.

It klunks if I let of the gas and let back on, leaks pretty bad, and the lsd doesnt seem to be doing too well either. Unfortuneatly differential rebuilding is something I have abolutely NO experience in.

SO what all is involved? Id imagine youd need to replace the ring and pinion, put a new LSD unit in, replace the seals... is there a write up anywhere? I know clearances have to be measured, btu what are they?

Im clueless on this one

No, if its in gear and I let up of the gas, it clunks, and then when I hit the gas again, it clunks again. The sound is comming from the rear of the car. It doesnt make any noise on turns

If you jack the car up on the rear. You can feel alot of play between the rear tires and driveshaft movement.

Plus I like the idea of a torsen no-slip heheh, sounds like a good upgrade for the stock LSD

I agree, if you can get a good used one youll be better off. The factory shop manual has all the procedures. Go read it and decide for yourself. No need to replace the R&P if they arent messed up. If its whinning though, then yes, thats not fixable AFAIK.
